In mid-January last year,when Shanghai Huali Microelectronics Co.,Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as"Huali"),the marriage of Hua Hong Group and Grace Semiconductor,started construction in Shanghai,it was said that trial production was expected before the end of 2010.But obviously the progress has been delayed.
"There are only a few machines that have just moved in,and mass production should take some time."Yesterday,an insider of Huali revealed to China Business News(Weibo)Daily.
The official website of Huali,which has not been online for a long time,proves that it has adjusted the initial trial production period to before the end of 2011.According to the official content,it only moved its process equipment into the plant on November 20 last year;it started power transformation in 2010,and by the end of the year the plant will achieve purification conditions and start moving 10,000 pieces of process equipment;at the end of 2011,it will complete the selection of 20,000 pieces of equipment.And purchase,conduct research and development,certification and trial production of 65-nanometer and 45-nanometer processes;in the case of better market conditions,the production capacity of 35,000 pieces will be achieved by the end of 2012,and the process will reach 45 nanometers.
Huali was established in Zhangjiang,Shanghai in January 2010.It was invested and established by Shanghai Union Investment,Shanghai Hongli Semiconductor,Shanghai Huahong Group,and Huahong NEC.The total planned investment of the project is RMB 14.5 billion.As an upgrade of the National Semiconductor Industry's 909 Project,Huali is also the second 12-inch semiconductor factory that has landed in Shanghai so far.
In January last year,our reporter participated in the launching ceremony of Huali.At that time,the investors emphasized that it will become"the first state-owned holdings,mainly for the domestic market,90-65-45 nanometer technology grade 12-inch integrated circuit production line with a monthly output of 35,000 pieces".The basic production capacity plan is 2010.At the end of the year,it reached 10,000,20,000 in 2011,and 35,000 in 2012.
Huali's progress may be mixed.2010 can be described as a year of recovery for China's semiconductor industry,and most companies have achieved good returns.Even the director of the China Semiconductor Industry Association,Changjiang Shangzhou,joked that"fools can make money"last year.The extension of the trial production period of Huali may make it lose its market opportunities in 2011.
However,this postponement may also allow Huali Card to meet the market demand rhythm.The semiconductor research institute iSuppli China senior analyst Gu Wenjun said at an industry forum in Zhangjiang not long ago that in 2011,the growth of the semiconductor industry may slow down slightly year-on-year,and 2012 may return to a good trend.
Huali stated at the beginning of its establishment that it will mainly target the local market,with at least 50%of its orders coming from the mainland.In the past two years,the design of the semiconductor industry in mainland China has grown rapidly,and many small industry giants such as Spreadtrum,Ingenics,RDA,and Rockchip have emerged.
